Andys Skordis (born in Nicosia, 24 August 1983) is a Cypriot composer.
Andys Skordis was born in Lefkosia, Cyprus in 1983. From a young age, he came close to music by playing electric guitar and writing music for his bands “Off Tone Thieves” and “Spirits” performing in Cyprus. At the same time, he was following lessons in music theory, harmony and counterpoint. During his obligatory military service, he was a member of the military band in Cyprus as a Euphonium and Guitar player. After being discharged, he began studying Jazz guitar at University of Bridgeport, and later on he enrolled at Berklee College of Music where he studied Composition and Film Scoring with Vuk Kulenovic and Tibor Pusztai. In 2008 Andys moved to Amsterdam where he enrolled at Conservatorium Van Amsterdam to study Composition with Richard Ayres and Wim Hendrickx and Karnatic music with Rafael Reina. In December 2011 he gained his master’s in Composition and in June 2012 he completes the 4-year post graduate program on Karnatic music. At the moment Andys lives in Amsterdam where he composes music. Apart from that he is the percussionist of the klezmer band “PAYAEN!”, he is a member of the band “Brain Masturbation” and the Javanese gamelan ensemble “Jumat Siang”.
