Heracles (Hercules) and the Girdle of the Amazons. The 9th labor of Heracles. Eurystheus asks Heracles to bring him the girdle of Hyppolyte, a queen of the Amazons. She obtained the girdle from Ares, the god of war. Even if Hyppolyte wanted to give the girdle to Heracles, Hera intervened and she not only convinced the Amazons to keep the girdle but also to attack Heracles. The result was that Hippolyte was killed by Heracles who obtained her girdle.
