Phaestus or Phaistos (ancient Greek Φαίστος Phaístos, Latin Phaestus) was the son of Herakles and the father of Rhopalus in Greek mythology. Eustathius of Thessalonica describes him as the son of Rhopalus, a son of Heracles.
He was the first, after Pausanias, to worship Heracles as a god, previously worshiped only as a hero. When Ianiskos died, Phaistos became king of Sicyon. Photios mentions another ruler named Epopeus, who is also to be dated at this time.
Phaistos ruled for 8 years and then followed an oracle saying that he should leave Sicyon and settle in Crete. There he founded the city of Phaistos. After his departure, the government fell to Zeuxippus. Eusebius of Caesarea, on the other hand, names Polypheides as heir to the throne.
