In Greek mythology, Chaeresilaus (Ancient Greek: Χαιρησίλαος) appears in the literature only in Pausanias in connection with the founding myth of the Polis Tanagra. Chairesilaus is the son of Iasius and grandson of Eleuther, who in turn is presented as the son of the god Apollo with Aithusa, a daughter of the god Poseidon. The son of Chairesilaos is the founder Tanagras Poimandrus, who named the city after his wife Tanagra. [1]
Karl Tümpel concludes from information in Plutarch on the family tree of Poimandros that Chairesilaus is also the grandfather of Ephippus and thus great-grandfather of the Trojan fighter Acestor.
