Baccheius or Bacchios (Greek Βακχεῖος or Βάκχιος) is an epithet in Greek mythology, but also an epiclesis of Dionysus.
As an epithet, it is widely used in poetry since the Homeric hymns [1] and in prose since Herodotus. [2] The spelling Bacchios, on the other hand, only occurs in poetry. The cult name of Dionysus was Baccheius according to Pausanias in Corinth [3] and Sicyon [4], but it is also inscribed for Rhodes - and there with its own festival - [5] and Tralleis [6].
