Abobas (Ancient Greek Ἀβώβας Abṓbas) is the name of the Phrygian-Greek god Adonis in the Pamphylian city of Perge.[1]
While the name has been identified with the well-known form of the name Aoas or Awowas (Ἀώας, Ἀϝωϝας), it has also been associated with a form of Syrian flutes called Abub or Anbub, after which the Ambubajen are said to have been named.[2] Karl Tümpel assumes that it is an originally Greek name, which designates a paredros of the goddess Eos (in the form of the name Awos, Greek Ἄϝως).
