Found at Gytheion, Lakonia. The relief has the form of a naiskos with
pilasters and an epistyle. According to the inscription on the epistyle
Sosikrates dedicated his daughter Agathokleia to Demeter and Persephone,
Demeter is depicted at the centre of the representation, seated on a round
base (or cista mystica), in front of which is Cerberus, the guardian of Hades
In her right hand she holds the hand of the standing Persephone.
The male figure next to Demeter is Plouton or most probably the dedicator
Sosikrates. The latter's daughter, Agathokleia, is depicted on a smaller scale at
the left
2nd. cent. B.C.
