Obolus
(ὀβολός). A piece of money (Greck) originally of silver, but in later times (after 400 BC) of bronze. There were also tetroboli, trioboli, and dioboli; and fractional denominations, such as the hemiobolus, tetartimorion, etc. The Attic obolus equals 8 chalci.
