Taucheira, a city (in present-day Libya) in the region with the classical name 'Cyrenaica' that it has retained to modern times.
Taucheira was named Arsinoe after Arsinoe II sisted and wife of Ptolemy II Philadelphus. It was colonized around 10 years after Cyrene. Remains of pottery show trade with Corinth, Rhodes and other Greek islands. Votivs found indicate that Demeter and Persephone were worshipped in this region. Remains of Hellenistic and Byzantine Wall fortifications were found.
