Spartias (Σπαρτιάς) Aitoloakarnania
Spartias is a mountain village in the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania at an altitude of 919 meters [1], which is located on the border with the Regional Unit of Evrytania and north of Lake Trichonida. It is 28.5 km northwest of Agrinio and 15.5 km NW. from Thermo. It is officially reported in 1835 in the Government Gazette 19A - 07/12/1835 to be annexed to the then municipality of Taxiarchos. In 1912, with the Government Gazette 261A - 31/08/1912, the seat of the newly established homonymous community is defined [2]. According to the Kallikratis program, together with Makra Longa, Stekoula and Strigania, they constitute the local community of Spartia, which belongs to the municipal unit of Paravola in the municipality of Agrinio. It has few permanent residents, as most return during the summer months. The general and politician Ioannis Kalogeras (1876 - 1957) came from the village.
