Parthenonas (Παρθενών) Chalkidiki
Parthenonas is characterized as a traditional settlement of the Municipality of Sithonia, Chalkidiki. It is located at an altitude of 320 m and has 6 permanent residents. In Byzantine times the wider area was part of the monastery of Kostamonitis. The village was founded at the end of the 17th century. The inhabitants of Parthenonas took part in the revolution of 1821, highlighting important fighters such as Vassilios Ioannou and Ioannis Argyris. In the 1950s and 1960s, most of its inhabitants moved to Neos Marmaras. There is a Folklore Museum in Parthenonas.
