Paralia Tolofonos (Παραλία Τολοφώνος) Fokida

Paralia Tolofonos is a seaside settlement located in Dorida, Fokidos prefecture, at an altitude of 10 meters [1]. It has a population of 246 inhabitants, according to the 2011 census and together with Tolofonas they constitute the Local Community Tolofonos of the Municipal Unit Tolofonos of the Municipality of Doridos [2].

Geography - History

Paralia Tolofonos is located in the Gulf of Corinth, next to the national road Antirriou - Iteas (see National Road 48). The village is 42 km W. from Nafpaktos, 25.5 km A. from Galaxidi and 3.5 km NW from Tolofonas which is the port [3]. It was recognized as a settlement in 1951 and annexed to the then community of Tolofonos, while in 2010, with the "Kallikratis" program, it was detached from the municipality of Tolofonos and annexed to the municipality of Doridos [4].

The beach of the village is pebbled, its length exceeds 1 km, it is ideal for swimming or walking. At the end it joins west with Eratini beach [5]. At its eastern end, on Pita Hill, there are ruins of a 13th to 14th century coastal medieval tower. In the same area, ceramic finds from the Mycenaean era were found, as well as the remains of a fortified enclosure and an important settlement of classical and Hellenistic times, findings that testify to the habitation of the area since ancient times [7] [8].
