Palaiokastro (Παλαιόκαστρο) Kozani
Palaiokastro is a village in Greece, in the Municipality of Voio, in the region of Western Macedonia. The village has a population of 239 people.
Geography
Palaiokastro is located on the southwestern slopes of Vourinos, 9 km south of Siatista.
History
Ottoman Empire
In the late 19th century, Palaiokastro is a village in the Ottoman Empire. According to statistics, Vasil Kanchov in 1900 Palaiokastro is a village with 217 Greek Christians and 215 Greek Muslims.
According to the statistics of the Greek consulate in Elassona in 1904, Palaiokastro has 470 Greeks, 100% of the population.
The inhabitants actively participated in the Macedonian Struggle at the beginning of the 20th century.
Hellas
During the Balkan War in 1912 the village was annexed to Greece.
