Nikomidino (Νικομηδινό ) Thessaloniki

Nikomidino is a village and a community of the Volvi municipality.[2] Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Apollonia, of which it was a municipal district.[2] The 2011 census recorded 519 inhabitants in the village.[1] The community of Nikomidino covers an area of 12.072 km2.[3]

The old name of the vilage was Vorenos. In 1914 and later in 1922 to the locals, refugees from Asia Minor, who came from Nikomeidia, were added, so the village was renamed Nikomidino. In 1821 the village participated in the revolution and was destroyed by the Turks. A remarkable fighter of 1821 from Vorenos was Panagiotis Kyriakos .
