Nerantzies (Νεραντζιές) Achaia

Nerantzies is a village in Achaia and is the seat and only settlement of the homonymous local community of the Municipality of Aigialeia, according to the administrative division of the Kallikratis Program that has been in force in Greece since 1/1/2011 [1] [2].

It is 7 km from Aigio and 34 km from Patras. It covers about 3 sq.km while the settlement is limited to one tenth of the area. It borders the local communities of Rododafni (and specifically the settlement of Panorama), Selianitika and Alsos.

Administrative development

The then Nerantzies were recognized as a settlement in 1889 and were annexed by Government Gazette 251A of 04/10/1889 to the then Municipality of Aigio until 1912, which, with the abolition of the municipalities, were annexed to the Community of Selianitika [1]. With the Government Gazette 407A of 17/11/1926, they were detached from the Community of Selianitika and were designated as the seat of the newly established Community of Nerantzies [1] [2]. On 10/16/1940 the name of the settlement was changed to Nerantziai [1], as well as the community [2]. With the Government Gazette 244A of 04/12/1997, according to the Administrative Reform "Kapodistrias", they are attached to the Municipality of Sympoliteia until 2010 that joined the Municipality of Aigialeia (Government Gazette 87A - 07/06/2010) based on the Administrative Reform "Kallikratis" [ 1].

The demographic development of the settlement in the 21st century is as follows:
