Moni Epano Chrepas (Μονή Επάνω Χρέπας) Arkadia
The Holy Monastery of Epano Chrepa is located at an altitude of 1278 meters on a verdant slope of Mainalo and can be seen from the city of Tripoli. The Monastery of Epano Chrepa honors the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and overlooks the entire plain of Mantineia to Parnonas and Taygetos. It is the highest monastery in the Peloponnese and is therefore called the "balcony of Tripoli".
The Monastery holds the Diskopirio, which according to tradition was associated with the Elder of Moria and the Gospel that was kissed before the Liberation of Tripoli. According to tradition, her miraculous image she chose, with the grace of the Virgin Mary to settle on the fir-covered slope.
The monastery was anointed around 1100 AD. and there was a historic stronghold of the struggles of the Greeks. The monastery is cruciform. It celebrates not only on August 15 but also on September 14, the day of the Cross. Its catholic is an arched basilica, while the hagiography is still attested despite the traces left by time.
