Lakki, Karpathos

Lakki is a lowland village in Karpathos at an altitude of 70 meters [1].

Geography - History

Lakki is located in the south of the island and its east coast, at a distance of 6 km SW. from Karpathos (or Pigadia) and 4.5 km SE. from the Menetes. It is a tourist destination of the island, known for its many bays in the bay of Vathypotamos, with several tourist accommodations and restaurants. The most famous is "Ammopi" with several hotels, taverns, shops, car rental offices, etc. Others are "Votsalakia" with sand and fine pebbles, "Pera Ammos" and "Mikri Ammopi" with blond sand and shallow waters [2]. As a settlement it is officially mentioned in 1981 to be recorded in the then community of Menetes [3]. According to the Kallikratis plan, it belongs to the local community of Menetes that belongs to the municipal unit of Karpathos of the Municipality of Karpathos and according to the 2011 census it has a population of 122 inhabitants [4].
