It borders on the west with Gastouni, on the north with Agia Mavra, on the east with Roupaki and on the south with the villages of Ampelokampos and Savalia.

History

It was named after the first Olympian Korivos, a cook by profession, who was the winner of the road race [1] in the first Olympics in 776 BC, which took its name (Korovias). [2] He was the first stadium player in Olympia, where until the 13th Olympiad (728 BC), the stadium was the only race. [3] The historian Pausanias states that there is a column commemorating his victory at his grave on the border of Ilia. [4]

The residents decided to give his name to the village, which before was called Kelevi, after a Turkish official, whom the Venetian Archives (Mertziou Code) describe as "a person of great power" (Celebi), a name by which he is even known. nowadays. The village was renamed on September 20, 1955. [5]

Today, there is a Cultural Center in the village, while only a kindergarten is open, as after years the Primary School was closed due to lack of children. In the center of the village dominates the Holy Temple of Agia Paraskevi, as well as the large square. The small church of the village cemetery, which is preserved to this day, dates from the era of Ottoman rule. The main activity and source of income for the inhabitants of Koroivos is agriculture and animal husbandry.
