Keramidia ( Κεραμιδιά) Ilis
Keramidia is a settlement of the former Kapodistrian municipality of Amaliada [1] and now a Kallikratis municipality of Ilida [2]. It is located 15 km northeast of Amaliada, near the Pinios river dam, at an altitude of 124 meters. [3]
Designation
Its old name was Bezaiti [4] by a Turkish bey named Bezait aga who lived in the area. He appears as Bozaiti [4] in 18th century Italian travelers and was renamed Keramidia in 1928. [5]
History
The history of the wider area dates back to the Paleolithic era as evidenced by the findings of the adjacent archeological museum of ancient Ilida and continues uninterrupted to this day.
In 1909 it was devastated by a major earthquake that killed seven people. On July 18, 1944, the Germans burned most of the village's houses and killed 15 residents in retaliation for the killing of two German soldiers by guerrillas. [6]
Economy
As in most villages in Greece until 1960, many of its inhabitants migrated to large urban centers at home or abroad (America, Australia, Germany).
Today's inhabitants are mainly engaged in agriculture (raisins, vines, olives) and animal husbandry.

1981 480 [7]
