Historical data
Mazaraki was inhabited by residents of Ano Mazaraki who, after the revolution of 1821, went down with their sheep in the winter to the plains. The first shepherds from Ano Mazaraki began to descend to the area with their sheep in 1840 [2]; the area is then reported to have been wooded full of cherries. They lived in makeshift huts and, as soon as spring came, they returned to the mountain village. From 1860 the first houses and a permanent installation in Kato Mazaraki are mentioned. In fact, the village was originally called "Tzerovouni" [3] [2] from the homonymous hills where it was built.

In summary, the demographic development of the settlement according to the national censuses [4] [5] is as follows [6] [7].
