Galanaiika is a small village of Achaia and belongs to the Municipality of Western Achaia. It is located in an area of special archaeological interest [1]. Nearby are Katsaitaiika and Mazaraki.
History
The name of the village is anthroponymic and came from the surname of the family that lived in the area [2]. Galanaiika was recognized as a settlement on 19/03/1961 and was annexed to the community of Mazarakio. With the Government Gazette 244A of 04/12/1997 they were attached to the Municipality of Olenia until 2010 that they joined the Municipality of Western Achaia (Government Gazette 87A - 07/06/2010) based on the Administrative Reform "Kallikratis" [3].
