Ellinoekklisia [1] is a village in the prefecture of Messinia and is located 29 km from the city of Kalamata and 17 km from the city of Messina.
Ellinoekklisia borders the villages of Androusa (6.5 km), Kalogerorahi (3.7 km), Magganiako (5.1 km) and Klima (4.8 km). The village in 2001 had 310 permanent residents while in 2011 it had 196 permanent residents.
In the old days Ellinoekklisia was called Samari. Ellinoekklisia in the older years belonged to the Municipality of Androusa but now it belongs to the Municipality of Messina.
The village has 3 churches such as the Holy Temple of Agios Vassilios which is also the patron saint of the village, the Holy Temple of Agios Dimitrios which is the cemetery of the village and the chapel of Agios Pavlos and Agios Petros. The village also has a football field and two cafes.
The village has a football team, the Tigris (Tiger) of Ellinoekklisia .
