Kornokipos (Greek: Κορνόκηπος , Turkish: Gornec) is a village in the Famagusta District in Cyprus, located on the south eastern side of the Kyrenia Mountains. It is historically an exclusively Turkish Cypriot settlement and remains so today. It was occupied by the Turkish army in 1974 and has since then been under the de facto control of the (internationally un-recognized) Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. In 1960, it had a population of 292 and in 1973 a population of 315 (Source: [1]). It currently has a population of around 500.
