Agia Varvara Pafou (Greek : Αγία Βαρβάρα Πάφου) or Agia Varvara is a community of the District of Paphos.

According to archaeological findings discovered in the area, it is possible that Agia Varvara was inhabited since the Middle Bronze Age. Furthermore, according to the archaeologist David Rupp, whose expedition carried out excavations in the area in the 1980s, Agia Varvara was a city during the Cypriot Archaic period, whose abandonment is linked to the abandonment of Palaipafos.

According to an English diplomat, in 1813 the inhabitants of the community had been exterminated, meaning possibly the plague that affected many areas of Cyprus at that time.

Until 1975 Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots lived in Agia Varvata. After the Turkish invasion of 1974 and the population exchange that followed, its Turkish Cypriot inhabitants left Agia Varvara and settled in northern Cyprus.

During the intercommunal disturbances of 1963-64, eight of the thirteen Greek Cypriot families left the community and settled in neighboring communities. In addition, some Turkish Cypriots left the community in March 1966. Subsequently, some shooting incidents and the intervention of the Greek Cypriot police caused tension in the community. This resulted in half the population of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots leaving the community.

After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the Turkish Cypriots left Agia Barbara in two phases. Some left secretly and settled in northern Cyprus. Those who did not manage to leave, left on 30 August 1975 accompanied by UNFICYP. Most settled in Karavas, Trachoni, Pentageia, Famagusta and Morphou.

Some Greek Cypriot refugees from the northern part of the country settled in Agia Varvara. Today, the Greek Cypriot residents live in the community. In recent years, the community has shown residential and population growth, mainly due to its proximity to Paphos, the possibility of finding residential plots and the two industrial zones that exist in the area.
