Replica of an instrument that was used by the pilots of the Discoverers for measuring the altitude of stars in order to calculate the latitude in which the ship was sailing They were at first made in wood, but later of brass or bronze. The fist record of its utilization dates from c. 1460 by the hands of Diogo Gomes
