The drawing shows how to transmit motion to the axle of the wagon. A crank turns the cog
wheel which engages the lantern rocket linked to the wagon's axle thus increasing its velocity.
The motion is transmitted to a single wheel so when entering into a curve it enables the other
wheel to rotate at different speed. In its modern version the same function is performed
by the "differential".

ΤΟ σχέδιο δείχνει πως μπορεί να μεταβιβαστεί η κίνηση στον άξονα ενός κάρου. Ένας στρόφαλος
γυρίζει το γρανάζι που εμπλέκει τον οδοντωτό τροχό πού είναι συνδεδεμένος με τον
άξονα του κάρου και έτσι αυξάνει την ταχύτητα τους. Η κίνηση μεταβιβάζεται στον ένα τροχό, έτσι
ώστε, όταν το κάρο έμπαινε σε στροφή, επέτρεπε στον άλλο τροχό να περιστρέφεται με
διαφορετική ταχύτητα. Στη σύγχρονη της έκδοση η ίδια λειτουργία εκτελείται από το διαφορικό
