Nicola Vaccaro (13 March 1640 – 25 May 1709) was an Italian painter of the late-Baroque period.
Born in Naples to a family of painters, including his father, Andrea Vaccaro, with whom he first apprenticed. He became enamoured with the style of Salvator Rosa's landscape paintings. He moved to Rome and joined the studio of Nicolas Poussin. Late in life, he fell in love with a singer of the theater, and abandoned painting to become an impresario with the Theater San Bartolomeo.[1]
