Josep Roca-Sastre i Muncunill (Tarrasa, 1928 - Barcelona, ​​1997) was a painter from Catalonia, Spain, son of the lawyer Ramón María Roca Sastre and grandson of the modernist architect, Lluís Muncunill. His career as a painter began in 1956 Paris where he spent two years scholarship by the French Institute and where he won the First Prize of the contest of Jeune Peinture. Later he continued with figurative works of urban and intimate themes, with a very personal style, reflecting an inner world marked by modernism and inspired by the passages and corners of his own studio in the Ensanche de Barcelona.1

He was a member of the Catalan Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona since 1980. He was awarded the Sant Jordi Prize of the Provincial Council of Barcelona (1966) and the Medal of Honor of the Salon des Artistes Français de Paris (1968) As well as the Quadern Premi of the Foundation of Friends of Arts and Letters of Sabadell (1993) .1
