Jose Benlliure Ortiz, known as Peppino, (Rome, 1884 - Valencia, 1916) was a Spanish painter.
Biography
Son of Jose Benlliure and Gil, he was born in Rome when his father was director in the school of painting in Rome. There he met José Villegas Cordero, Francisco Pradilla, Ferrat, Antonio Muñoz Degrain, Moreno Carbonero, Joaquín Sorolla, Manuel Benedito Vives, and Eduardo Chicharro.
Disciple of Joaquin Sorolla, accompanied his teacher in different trips, helping him in his exhibitions, being in charge of redirecting the decoration works of the house that was built Sorolla in Madrid
In his last works, among which he emphasizes his self-portrait, the impressionistic qualities of this painter can be observed. His father bequeathed an important amount of works to the Museum of Fine Arts of Valencia.
