Johann Nepomuk Mayrhofer (born May 9, 1764 in Oberneukirchen, Holy Roman Empire, † 1832 in Munich, Kingdom of Bavaria) was an Austrian painter.
Life
Johann Nepomuk Mayrhofer was born on 9 May 1764 in the town of Oberneukirchen, which belongs to the Holy Roman Empire, in present-day Upper Austria. He studied painting with Johann Haslinger, who had been working in Linz since 1759, and then attended further education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Throughout his life, Mayrhofer mainly dealt with botanical studies and became a respected and extremely precise flower painter. In collaboration with the Lithographic Art Institute of Hermann Mitterer in Munich, he published a number of scientifically and artistically valuable lithographs. In 1832 Mayrhofer died in Munich, the city where he lived until the end.
