Oath scene in the Temple of Jupiter
Johann Heiss (Memmingen born June 19, 1640, † 1704 in Augsburg) was a German Baroque painter.
After his training in Memmingen, where he graduated with Hans Conrad Sichelbein and Johann Sichelbein, he stood in 1663 and 1664 in the service of the duke of Württemberg Sttugart Eberhard III. From 1677 he lived and worked in Augsburg.
Works by hot can be seen in Germany in the Baroque Gallery in Ludwigsburg Castle, the City Museum Memmingen, in the Herzog Anton Ulrich-Museum (Braunschweig), the Bavarian State Painting Collections, in the Germanic National Museum (Nuremberg) or the German Baroque Gallery (Augsburg) and the State Gallery (Stuttgart). Abroad, he is represented by works in the Louvre (Paris), Kunsthistorisches Museum (Vienna) and the Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg).
