Franz Xaver Karl Palko (born March 3 1724 in Breslau; † 1767 in Prague) was a German historical and portrait painter and etcher.
He was the son of the largely unknown Anton Palko († 1754) and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at the Accademia in Venice. A special influence in Palko's work is evidenced by Giuseppe Maria Crespi. Palko was subsequently in Kroměříž, Brno, Dresden (as Saxon-Polish court painter under Friedrich August II.), Raudnitz, Prague and Munich as Electoral Bavarian court painter under Maximilian III. Joseph worked.
Many of his works are still preserved and are represented in collections throughout the former Habsburg Monarchy and in German-speaking countries. [1]
