Eugenio Giuseppe Conti (Crema, September 16, 1842 - Milan, January 1, 1909) was an Italian painter.
Biography
Son of Bernardino and Angela Ogliari, he studied painting at the Carrara Academy in Bergamo and had master Enrico Scuri; In 1864 he moved to Florence and studied with Antonio Ciseri and from 1866 he was in Rome at the shop of Cesare Mariani. In the youth it was linked to the Garibaldi patriots.
He returned to Crema in 1874 and married his cousin Zoe Fontana, from whom he had four children.
He painted paintings for the churches of Vaiano Cremasco, Credera, San Giovanni Battista and Santa Maria della Croce in Crema, for Palazzo Bonzi and Villa Poma in Biella. He participated in the industrial and artistic exhibition in Cremona, at a similar exhibition in Turin and at the Milan industrial show.
In 1901 he was appointed Honorary Member of the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.
He is buried in the sergnano cemetery: there is a bronze medallion on his tomb with his portrait made by sculptor Alessandro Laforêt.
