Axel Hjalmar Ender (born 14 September 1853 on Dikemark in Asker, died in 1920 in Oslo) was a Norwegian painter and sculptor.
He studied under Julius Middelthun the Drawing School in Christiania (1867-71), at art academies in Stockholm (1872-74) and in Munich (1875-1880), unusual enough funded by Charles IV. He also worked as a teacher, among others Erik Werenskiold (1874-1875). The statue of Tordenskiold Town Square in Oslo is one of his main project (1891-1901), which he surprisingly got after Anders Svor had won the competition. Ender received Order of St. Olav (Knight Cross) for the work.
Ender was also painter with a flair for the Norwegian and national romanticism (Sleigh ride on the lake, a Herding meetings known people on the way over the mountains, Sledding on the ice, a nice ski, hay loaded on, Visiting seater and Mother and Child in Setesdals suits). It became evident Enders works also on Christmas cards. He has also created altarpieces in Åsnes Church (1876), Haug church (Ringerike) 1878 Kampen Church, Østre Porsgrunn Church (1890), Lunner church (1904), Molde Cathedral and Sundby church in Morsø in Denmark.
