Much of his creative years (1520-1535) he spent in Cologne. He also produced the great panoramic view of the city woodcut of Cologne, the "Great View of Cologne" to in 1531. It delivers a vivid idea of the structural form of the medieval Rhine panorama with over 16 gates and several bastions of Cologne. The woodcut is the most beautiful view of the river front of Cologne, in the Woensam the wall reinforced also to the power side, late medieval Cologne describes with great detail. He points to the Rhine two different types of ships: Oberlander (Rhein Ship Type from Middle and Upper Rhine) and significantly different ships built by the Dutch type, to the most accurate and authentic views of the Rhine mills. This attention to detail gave best insights into the former shipbuilding and milling technology.
