Notes Das früher Adam Elsheimer zugeschriebene Gemälde geht auf eine Komposition Elsheimers in den National Galleries of Scotland zurück, "Il contento", wandelt diese aber – u. a. durch einen spiegelbildlichen Aufbau – ab. Der Darstellung liegt eine Episode aus dem Schelmenroman "Guzman de Alfarache" des Mateo Alemán zu Grunde, der 1599 in Madrid erschien.[1]
The painting attributed earlier to Adam Elsheimer goes back to a composition of Elsheimer in the National Galleries of Scotland, "Il Contento", this converts but - among other things by a mirror image construction - from. The presentation is based on an episode from the picaresque "Guzman de Alfarache" of Mateo Alemán , which appeared in Madrid 1599th [1]
