Grigoris "Gregory" Desypris (Greek: Γρηγόρης Δεσύπρης) is a Greek singer-songwriter and guitarist.[1] He was born in Athens, Greece, during the 1960s and grew up in the Fokionos Negri area, where many Greek music bands were based, finding there his musical influences.

Biography

He had his first guitar lessons, at the age of 8, and later on created his first garage bands, performing shows at "Moussika Proina", in locations such as "Kypselaki Theatre", "The Green Park", and in clubs.

He became a member of the Idols band (a former member was Demis Roussos) as singer and guitar player, when Vasilis Konstantinidis was leading the band.

In early 1987 he formed the Liqueur band, performing at Greek clubs such as Omni Live and BO Club until 1992. In 1992, along with his companion Ilias Skrimizeas, he created the Taxidiotes ("Travelers") band, participating in the Thessalonica Song Contest with two of their songs, S' Efharisto (I Thank You) and Se Parallilous Dromous (Parallel Streets).

The response to their appearance led them to their first record deal, (1993), with MBI, releasing their first record, called Telikos Proorismos (Final Destination).During an interview with Greek-American reporter Dimitri Kastanas, for NGTV in New York, the Aegean Audio and Videos CEO George Tsapelas called Dessypris and proposed that the record should be release for the US market.

In May 1998 Dessypris went solo, making the album Tha Paro To Treno, released by Ria Music/Minos, with lyrics by Stamatis Mesimeris and arranged by guitarist Christoforos Krokidis. The record sold out within months…

During the following years he met Makis Tsigandes, and forming the Agnoston Loipon Stoicheion rock band, presenting to the public his own songs and those of Lavrentis Machairitsas and Vasilis Papakonstantinou.

In 2005 with arranger Christoforos Krokidis once again and this time with lyricist Kostas Kolovos he released the album Apla kai Berdemena ("Simple and yet Complicated")(Polymusic/Universal).
