Metrodoros of Lampsakos in Asia Minor (331/30 - 278/7 B.C.)
was a pupil and friend of the philosopher Epicurus.
The bust is a copy dating from the period of Hadrian (AD 117-138)
of a Hellenistic original dated probably 280 - 250 B.C.
