Geography - History

Perithiotissa is located NE of Nafpaktos at a distance of 42 km and SW of Lidoriki (35 km) [3]. It is built on a slope of Mount Trikorfo with a view to the East. Around the village there are dense forests of firs and oaks. In the center of the village there is a square with two stone fountains and a centuries-old plane tree while around it is the community store, the doctor's office and the church of Agios Dimitrios [4]. Its original name was Peritheiotissa and so the settlement was annexed in 1835 to the then municipality of Potidaneia. In 1912, with the Government Gazette 261A, a community of Peritheiotissi was established with its seat, while in 1940 it was renamed Perithiotissa [5].

Theofanis Betsistas (1886 - 1958), a Macedonian warrior, veteran of the Balkan Wars and later abbot of the monastery of Agios Stefanos in Meteora, was born in the settlement. 6] [7].
