Neo Chalkiopoulo (Νέο Χαλκιόπουλο) Aitoloakarnania
Neo Chalkiopoulo is a semi-mountainous village in the Regional Unit of Aitoloakarnania at an altitude of 374 meters [1].
Geography - History
Neo Chalkiopoulo is on the eastern border with the Regional Unit of Karditsa. It is built at the foot of Mount Kalana or Kanala and the west bank of the Inachos River. It is 42 km NE. from Amfilochia and 7.5 km. D. from Chalkiopoulo (Palio Chalkiopoulo). It was the seat of the former municipality of Inachos [2] where the health center of the area is. It is officially mentioned for the first time in 1981 that it belongs to the then community of Chalkiopoulo [3]. According to the Kallikratis plan, together with the settlements of Agioi Theodoroi, Agios Vlasios, Agios Minas, Agrapidokokambos, Chalkiopoulo, Xomeri and Prosilia constitute the Local Community of Chalkiopoulo which belongs to the Municipal Unit of Inathomos 2011 residents [4]. The population of Chalkiopoulo is gradually declining with the astyphilia of the last decades, although in the 1980s, with the creation of the NSS, a health center [5] was built in the village, which helped the permanent residents considerably.
