  • Militsa [1] is a village in the Community of Militsa, with 69 inhabitants (2011 census) and is administratively part of the Municipal Unit of Epirus [2] of the Municipality of Messina. It is located at an altitude of 295 meters [3] and belongs to the Regional Unit of Messinia, Peloponnese Region.

    Militsa, [4] together with the neighboring settlement of Eastern Militsa and Vlasaika, constitute the Community of Militsa. The residents

    They are mainly engaged in the cultivation of olives. It is one of the most picturesque villages of Messinia and is characterized by its exceptional natural beauty.

    Militsa is 51 km from Kalamata, 22 km from Koroni and just 12 km from the cosmopolitan Finikounda, which for years now has become one of the two most important tourist resorts in the prefecture, along with Stoupa in Messinian Mani.
    Administrative changes

    On 21-04-1835, [5] the settlement of Militsa is annexed to the Municipality of Pidassos. On 18-12-1840, [6] it was annexed to the Municipality of Methoni. On 31-08-1912, [7] the seat of the Community of Militsa is defined. On 04-12-1997, [8] it is annexed to the Municipality of Epirus, based in Logga and on 07-06-2010, [9] it is annexed to the Municipality of Messina, based in Messina.
