Marathoula (Μαραθούλα) Aitoloakarnania
Marathoula is a mountainous settlement in the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania, it is part of the Local Community of Analipsi and according to the "Kallikratis Program" from 1/1/2011 it belongs to the enlarged Municipality of Thermos [1] [2].
Location
The village is located close to the river Evinos, in an area north of the "Bania" Bridge or "Pouliani" Bridge, being built at an altitude of about 570 to 650 meters, and is located near it, beyond Thermo which is its administrative center. of the area, the villages of Gefyra Bania, Vlachomandra, Sfikaia, Flesourias, Kaloudi, Analipsi, Petrochori, Kaimena Ampelia, Paliouria, while the residential area of Kourmeki [3], as well as the "Baths of Vlachomandra" are also nearby. It is 23 km from Nafpaktos and about 49 km from Agrinio.
Administrative development
It is one of the villages located in the historical area of Apokouros, on its southern borders. It was recognized as a settlement with the name "Pouliani" on 19/03/1961, when it was subordinated to the then Community of Analipsi [1] [4] [5]. With the Government Gazette 122A of 21/07/1964, it was renamed Marathoula [1] [5]. On March 14, 1971, the abolished settlement of Flesouria was annexed to the settlement of Marathoula. [1] [5] In the period 1997-2010, based on the "Kapodistrias Plan", it was part of the former Municipal Department of Analipsi of the "Kapodistrian" Municipality of Thermo [1] [2] [4] [6].
