Managouli (Μαναγούλη) Fokida

Managouli is located in the Municipality of Doridos in the Prefecture of Fokida, in the center of the plain of the river Mornos. The Local Community of Managouli, with a total population of 579 inhabitants, includes Managouli, with 321 inhabitants, and the settlements of Longos, with 168 inhabitants, and Chiliadou (approximately 4 km SE of Managouli, on the beach of Corinth), with 90 residents [1]. Also, to the south of Managouli are Koutsoukia, a summer seaside settlement with few houses.

The Cathedral of the village is that of Saints Constantine and Helen. The chapel of Zoodochou Pigi (Panagia Faneromeni), which is built on a hill in the area of the ancient temple of Apollo and in the precincts of which there are remnants of ancient olive groves, celebrates Easter Friday. It becomes a very big festival and the whole village celebrates. East of the church (at Gouvos) is the ancient city of the Reds, mentioned by Thucydides. In Chiliadou there are hotels and rental accommodation, extensive beach for sea baths and recreation of yachts.

The locals are engaged in agriculture, animal husbandry and fishing. They produce corn, clover and citrus.

There is also the Folklore Environmental Association of Managoulis, which was founded last summer [unclear] in order, among other things, to search, study and promote the history and folklore of the village and the wider area.

A first action of the Association is the collection of photographic material, mainly from earlier times, and its publication.

To the northwest is the settlement of Routsos (from Rotsos = stone).

Sport

The A.O. Dorikos is a sports club of Fokida, based in the village of Managouli in the province of Dorida. The biggest distinction in its history is the conquest of the APS Division Championship. Fokidas and his participation in the Special Championship of EPO [2] for the promotion to the D'Ethniki category, in the period 1998-99, with coach Noni Lima.

In 2010, while the President and Vice President of the Board of Directors were two brothers from Managouli, Andreas and Vassilis Nitsos, Dorikos became champions of Fokida for the second time in history, but did not participate in the Regional Championship, mainly due to financial problems [3] .

For the next two football seasons 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 the club remained inactive. In 2012, having at the helm again the two brothers Andrea and Vassilis Nitsos, he declares his participation in the 2nd local Championship of Ε.Π.Σ. Fokidas, where he also becomes a champion, and gets the promotion to the A 'local. The association has now been renamed A.O. GIFTS while maintaining its headquarters as well as the Doric helmet that was on its logo in front of a shield and a sword, framed with laurels. On February 18, 2015, the team became the Fokida Cup Winner [4], prevailing in the Final of the stadium of Amfissa with a score of 1-0 of Asteras Iteas.
