Lygias (Λυγιάς) Aitoloakarnania
Lygias is a lowland village of Nafpaktia in the prefecture of Aitoloakarnania, at an altitude of 70 meters [1]. According to the implementation of the Kallikratis program, it is the Local Unit of Lygia belonging to the Municipal Unit of Nafpaktos of the Municipality of Nafpaktia and according to the 2011 population and housing census of the country's permanent population, 1,161 inhabitants were registered [2].
Geography - history
Lygias is located North - NE. of Nafpaktos at a distance of 3.5 km from the city center. To the west is the Ska torrent and to the north is the Nafpaktos ring road, which is part of the Antirrio - Itea EO. The patron saint of the village is Agios Thomas, which is celebrated on October 6. In 1979, with the Government Gazette 16A - 30/01/1979, the community of Lygia was established and the settlement was defined as its seat, while in 1997, according to the Kallikratis plan and the Government Gazette 244A - 04/12/1997, it was detached from the community and annexed to the then municipality of Nafpaktos [3]. In 1981, the Football Association "AO Lygias Nafpaktias - To Neokastro" was founded, which since 1991 has its own stadium on the east bank of the torrent Ska [4].
