Lefko (Λευκό) Aitoloakarnania

Lefko is a small settlement and seat of the homonymous local community of the Municipality of Thermo in the Prefecture of Aitoloakarnania, according to the administrative division of the Kallikratis Program that has been in force in Greece since 1/1/2011 [1].

It is 23 km by road from Agrinio, 51 km from Nafpaktos, 52 km from Messolonghi, 58 km from Karpenisi, 70 km from Patras, and 268 km from Athens.

Historical data

Until 1954 it was called Kato Prostova [1] [3] [4]. This name contrasted with the old name Prostova of the neighboring village of Kallithea, of which it was a part, until they disintegrated in 1932 and created an independent settlement and its own community [1] [5] [6] [7].
