Germas (Γέρμας) Kastoria
Germas (until 1926 Losnitsa) is a village in the Municipality of Orestidos in the Prefecture of Kastoria.
According to the “Kapodistrias” plan, for 11 from 1999 to 2010, Germas belonged to the Municipal District of Germa, of the former Municipality of Ionas Dragoumis.
Geography
The village is located at an altitude of 777 meters above sea level on Mount Mourikis.
History
Turkish rule
The church "Agios Georgios" was built in 1761.
During the 19th century, Germas was a Greek village in the Ottoman Empire. Alexander Sinve in his work Les Grecs de l’Empire Ottoman. Etude Statistique et Ethnographique in 1878 wrote that Germas was inhabited by 1,200 Greeks.
According to Vasil Kanchov's statistics ("Macedonia. Ethnography and Statistics") in 1900, Germas is a village with 600 Greek Christians.
Hellas
During the Balkan Wars the village was occupied by Greek units and remained in Greece. During World War II, in 1943, after a battle between German troops and Greek resistance, the village burned down.
