Drouva (Δρούβα) Ilia
Drouva or Druva is a small village in the Municipality of Ancient Olympia in the Prefecture of Ilia. It is built on the homonymous hill on the southwest side of Ancient Olympia.
Before the excavations of the 19th century and while the archeological site of Olympia was buried, residents lived only in Druva. The name of the village comes from the founder of the village Drouva, who was a shepherd and chose this place for the stay of his family due to its very good climate.
Today's residents of the village are engaged in tourism in Ancient Olympia, while many families have agriculture as their main occupation, producing mainly olive oil.
The Druva Theater has been involved in the region's cultural activities since 2007, participating in the International Festival of Ancient Olympia. [1] The Small Druva Theater is located at the foot of the hill in its eastern suburbs, opposite Kronios and the Archaeological Site of Olympia. During the summer, usually within the framework of the International Festival of Ancient Olympia, many dance, theatrical and musical performances take place.
