José San Bartolomé Llaneces (Madrid, September 10, 1864 - December 10, 1919) was a Spanish painter, known in the artistic world as José Llaneces. He was also a sculptor.

Biography
His early years


He was born in the Cervantes street of Madrid, in the same house where the poet and playwright Lope de Vega lived in the s. XVII. Very humble and orphaned father of very early age, in his childhood only came to receive instruction in primary school, showing very little predisposition for studies. He emphasized however in his skill and interest in painting and drawing, so he was enrolled in the night classes of Section I of the School of Arts and Trades of Madrid while, for the day and to help the familar economy , Placed him as an apprentice at the age of eleven in the studio of the well-known Madrid photographer and portraitist Pedro Martínez de Hebert.1 In recognition of his talent and application, he obtained a prize in artistic drawing at the end of the 1880-1881 School.
